Megan and Mike's Wedding Cake

The process of creating a custom wedding cake takes a lot of inspiration and several stages of planning. Megan was so helpful in the planning of her wedding cake; she put together colors and images she wanted to incorporate into the wedding. The couples' wedding cake, invitation, flowers, and decorations would all be based on the collection of images below:

As you can see, the colors gold and fuchsia were very prominent in the images Megan chose. The gold color of the shoes, dress, confetti, and decorations in these images would be brought to life on Megan and Mike's wedding day. Sparkling gold was featured in the couple's decorations throughout the day. Fuchsia would be incorporated in the beautiful peonies used at the wedding.

After drawing colors and style from the inspiration board, Ana created three sketches for Megan and Mike's wedding cake.

Megan and Ana decided the first wedding cake design would bring all of the elements together the best. The ribbon around the bottom of each tier would be painted gold, as would the small dots you see drawn on the side of each tier, which were inspired by the tiny gold-colored bubbles in the selected champagne. These champagne-like gold bubbles are also visible in the cake table linen and the confetti on each table at the reception. Lastly, we decided to place vibrant fuchsia peonies on the top tier of the wedding cake, as well as one on the bottom tier. These details brought the major colors together in a simple, yet very elegant way.

Here is the final product of Megan and Mike's wedding cake. We loved the way the cake came out and are so happy the couple loved it as well!

Ana Parzych Announces New AP Signature Line of Wedding Cakes

Ana Parzych Cakes is pleased to announce the AP Signature Cakes line, to be formally launched in July. Ana created this beautiful new collection of wedding cakes to meet the needs of a growing clientele, based on designs that have been widely popular over the years. Many of these designs were created for bridal magazine editorials for leading publications such as The Knot and BRIDES. Thanks to this great exposure, these wedding cakes quickly gained a following among brides of a wide variety of backgrounds, and have remained popular.

Offering this signature wedding cake collection for online ordering allows a busy bride to enjoy an Ana Parzych wedding cake without having to invest the time and expense that goes into creating a completely original cake design. Some of the simpler cakes in the AP Signature line can be customized with Ana's stunning sugar flowers to make the cake more suitable to the client's wedding design.

The new cakes will be ready-to-order while maintaining the artistry and high quality that is synonymous with Ana Parzych's work. As always, all cakes and fillings are made fresh from gourmet recipes and only the finest ingredients. Samples will be available for tasting monthly at our Cheshire studio.
The AP Signature wedding cakes line will be available for delivery throughout Connecticut and the NYC/Westchester County area.

Stay tuned for more details to come after our July launching!

Ana Parzych Cakes Featured in Spring/Summer issue of The Knot NY

We are featured in Party Notebook section of The Knot New York Spring/Summer 2012 issue. The Party Notebook recaps The Knot Gala celebrating New York Bridal Fashion Week. See our upcoming post on how we got inspired to create a custom wedding cake for their gala.

Custom Wedding Cake for The Knot Industry Gala NY

Last fall JoAnn Gregoli, master bridal consultant and principal of Elegant Occasions, asked Colette Peters, Cake Alchemy, and myself to create a special wedding cake for The Knot Industry Gala, to be held at the New York Metropolitan Library. It’s always a pleasure to create lavish custom wedding cakes based on a specific event theme.

The event was in October, so the color scheme was based on warm, rich colors; the elegant invitation designed by Atelier Isabey featured eggplant purple and gold, and at the event itself was to have an abundance of ivory, purple, and rust colored flowers. With these colors in mind I designed a five-tiered wedding cake that would be displayed at the gala. We were very happy to contribute to the Knot Gala; it was a nice way to thank them for featuring our wedding cakes in many issues of their magazine over the years.

Once the hard work of designing and creating the wedding cake was completed we were able to truly enjoy the party.

The finished wedding cake, featuring fondant border and brushed embroidery painted with edible gold dust and hand-crafted sugar flowers. Although, the fondant appears brown  in the photograph, the actual color was plum.

Like many other publications, The Knot throws a party every year to celebrate all the top wedding professionals in the industry that contribute to their magazine. We particularly enjoy the opportunity to talk with many people we may have only had very brief interactions with throughout the year; it’s nice to be able to put a face with the name and have time to relax and talk. It’s also wonderful to meet new people and catch up with friends in the industry we would otherwise see when we’re all busy setting up for wedding receptions.

It’s always a pleasure to talk with Carley Roney, The Knot founder and editor in chief, and Anja Winikka, the Knot’s on-line editor; they’re both down to earth, very friendly, and two of the nicest people in the industry. We were also very excited to meet many other VIP guests, including fabulous wedding gown designers and TV personalities Monique Lhuillier, Yumi Katsura, and Ines di Santo.

It was great to work with such talented professionals in the wedding industry. Thank you to the Knot's special events team and JoAnn Gregoli for reaching out to us!

We are proud to see yet another one of our custom wedding cakes presented beautifully in a Connecticut editorial feature. This time an Ana Parzych custom wedding cake was showcased in the Spring/Summer 2012 issue of The Connecticut Bride magazine.

The five-tier ivory fondant wedding cake was topped with a cluster of hand-crafted sugar ivory garden roses and blush pink peonies and included decorative gumpaste ribbon rosettes on the tiers of the cake. We love this cake and hope you do too!
