This whimsical wedding took place on the grounds of a private 12-acre waterfront estate in Guilford, Connecticut that boasted a replica of Stonehenge, as well as a large vineyard and orchard.
David Blaine, a close friend of the couple, entertained guests with his spectacular magic throughout the night.
There was torrential rain the day before and on the morning of the wedding, which aside from making the bride nervous, afforded a double rainbow and sunset.
All 230 guests feasted on various hors d'oeuvres, including mini lobster rolls and french fries with truffle oil, as well as a course featuring a duet plate of filet mignon and sea bass with rissotto cake and grilled asparagus. After the custom wedding cake, candy stripers distributed all sorts of fun candy, including gummy brains.
Given Murat's Turkish heritage, each guest received a seaglass Nazar Boncugu (thought to be protective and ward off evil spirits), imported from Turkey.
We created a custom wedding cake design inspired by the invitation, which boasted delicate dogwood branches and leaves with blossoming flowers.
To match the invitation colors and reception palette of creams and golds, we finished the cake layers in Swiss vanilla ivory fondant. This custom wedding cake had alternating tiers of white Tahitian vanilla cake with strawberry and raspberry mousseline, and dark chocolate cake with bittersweet ganache and chocolate mousseline. The cake had cascading fondant branches, leaves, and flowers that were brushed with an edible gold pearl dust.
Many thanks to Bryan Avigne for the beautiful photography!
